The Living Planet Aquarium

Its been Spring Break for Gunner this past week!! Of course we wanted to do something fun, so we headed out to Sandy one afternoon to see the aquarium.

It is broken up into three area's:

The Utah waters and wetlands

Open Ocean

Journey to South America

There were some super cool frogs through out the museum. Some of them it took us a while to find them in the tanks, because they would blend so well. Others were a little easier to spot. Bella kept saying ribit ribit everytime she would spot one. Guns found one that was super hugh! If you cant tell in the picture he is about two hands long hugh! He said that Nana needed one like that to put outside with her other frogs!

They have a touch pool in the ocean area that had some sting rays and miscelanous fish in it. Gunner was a little weary of touching the sting ray's but he did it with a little coaxing. Bella on the other hand would have jumped in and swam with them.

There is another area that also has some other ocean creatures to touch. The star fish was way cool, and not your typical starfish. Then there were these little crabs, that as soon as you put your hand in the water, they start to swarm towards you. The girl working there said they eat the dead skin off your hands. GROSS!! Of course Gunner loved it, they really tickled his hand while they crawled all over.

Here is a Lobster that Gunner thought was fasinating. Definatly not the kind that Red Lobster has!! Bella liked the turtles, they were in the same tank as the little gators, but the gators wouldnt come close to the glass.

I personally thought the Jelly fish were super neat, its amazing how they turn different colors.

Over all it was really cool! My only complaint is that on TV they made it sound really big, like an all day event or even half a day event. With hugh tanks to really look at the sharks! When we arrived they told us at the max it would take us an hour and a half. We were there a little over an hour, and the tanks at Cabela's are quit larger. However, the kids enjoyed it, and we definalty want to go to the big one in Vegas a Mandalay Bay.
