"WOW"

This past November at school, Gunner decided to enter the reflections contest. This years theme was "WOW". Gunner entered in two categories: Musical Composition and Visual Arts! In musical composition we recorded him playing a song on his violin (which he had to make up himself and no we could not play it again exactly the same). And for the art project he constructed a piece out of colorful straws and at least two rolls of tape. The straws seemed to transformed into all sorts of ideas before he finally ended with the idea the its a "pirate ship".
The first part of December we (Rob and I) received a call to make sure we could come to the reflections awards assembly because Gunner was going to receive second place (yellow) for his "Pirate Ship" and first place (blue) for his music. It was really cool to see him get his awards and we were glad that Aunt Barb could join us for the occasion. The smile that was on his face when they called his name was priceless. He was so excited and couldn't believe it when they were calling "Gunner" to come up in front of everyone. He received a Outstanding Achievement Certificate, Ribbon, Silver Dollar, and Movie ticket for each of his pieces.

Because he won first place for his song, he was then entered in the State Reflections contest. We just received it back this last week with another ribbon attached. He didn't win at state, but he did receive this "Participation Ribbon". (yes, Rob thinks he should have won and is disappointed) But non the less we are so proud of him!! GOOD JOB GUNNER!!
