Day 2 of the Drive

Waking up in Sydney........they are the home/headquarters for Cabela's, so we defiantly had to check them out. Rob, Guns and Bella loved the fact that there were a ton of "honkers" sitting out in front of the store by the pond. There was also a Mallard Drake and Hen in the grass when we parked and the kids thought that they were so cool to just walk so close to them. Then there was the inside of the store.....I personally think that our Lehi Cabela's is much better and bigger......but I will have to say the life size elephant was pretty neat!

Then back on the road to Kerney where the Great Platte River Road Archway Monument is located. Guns and I saw this when we drove out when Bella was born, and we really wanted to check it out this trip. It was really neat! First of all the arch extends across both sides of the road.
When you go inside, if you want to take the tour, they give you a headset that interacts with where you are in the museum, and you go up the escalator. It was quite convenient to have a guided tour one on one.
The stories from the pioneers were so neat. There was a section of the museum on the Mormons going west, and what they endured.
One of Gunners favorite areas was of the Pony Express Riders....Gunner thought the gun that one of them used was so cool because it was made out of "real gold".
It is amazing how much the world has changed and how much more convenient and accessible things are in today's day!
